Coral Reef

Coral Reef

As a child I discovered the wonder of the ocean at the age of 6 at the stunning Maldive Islands in the summer of 1985. The reefs were abundant with marine life and a burst of colour, shape and movement. My memories of the coral reefs were vibrant and alive with memories of swimming in and around the fish and coral. Two years ago, we went back try and spot the elusive Whale sharks in the South Ari Atolls and learnt in despair the extent of the environmental damage which was more severe than we thought. The corals were bleached and marine life was sparse around the atoll and we had to take boats out to see marine life. We have experienced different properties, some pleasantly sustainable not only in mission, but in practice. Global warming and the weather sensitivity which affects the reefs has proven damaging over the last 25 years worldwide. Reefs which cover 1% of the world’s area, house 25% of marine species critical to our ecosystem. Today, there are several organisations working towards marine conservation and raising awareness to rebuild and protect reefs. Our Coral Reef collection is designed in vibrant hues, with memories of my love for the sea that I discovered as a child and to raise awareness for conservation, partnering with Reef Watch a Not for Profit in the Andaman Islands.
